Who is Grandmaster Jiang Yu Shan?

Grandmaster Jiang Yu Shan was a special forces instructor for over ten years and participated in Sanda, Kickboxing, Karate, and Mixed Martial Arts.

We cover fundamental Qigong exercises such as the Squatting Monkey, The Trinity Stance and the Four Ends Stance (“self-induced rage”).

This warms up the legs while softens up the shoulders and works the core.

四平樁 Sìpíng zhuāng – Lifting one leg raising a fist
Great for equilibrium, works the shoulders and hip flexors and stability of the root leg.

龍蹬腳 Lóng dēng jiǎo – Dragon kick
Similar to Sìpíng zhuān but this one opens up the shoulders and develops shoulder rotation.

Each movement can be done for 5 to 10 minutes to warm up.

This is a rectangular movement where you can move sideways, forward and backwards that also includes the rotation of the body. You are developing your balance, squatting ability and hip/core rotation.

There are many ways to move the arms but “the monkey washing his face” is a good choice. You can even add The Ten Hands and other arm movements to Pan Gen!

Single Hand

This technique can be used for blocking and then attacking the face. You hit with the palm.

The dragon comes out of the sea

This consists of two strikes. The first hand hits the acupuncture points in the mouth and jaw while the second hit strikes the opponent down.

The monkey holds his head

A powerful elbow strike with a lot of your bodyweight behind the strike. Also a very good protection.

This is a mixture of the classic boxing straight and overhand. It starts with a circular arm motion and comes out of nowhere.

Chain punch

A strong uppercut that is hard to see coming due to the circling arms before the strike. Use your voice for extra intensity and power.

Great protective movement for the head for all combat sports. Can also be used for blocking strikes and opening and closing the gate (opponent’s arms).

Grabbing the eye or the Adam’s apple with your fingers. The monkey style is a very dangerous and brutal because they can grab your eye, lips and ears.
