Who is Steve O’Brien?

Dr. Steve O’Brien is a clinical psychologist with nearly three decades of experience in the treatment of children, adolescents, and families at his Clearwater, Florida, practice. His areas of expertise encompass the treatment of childhood anxiety and depression, ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorders, and the adjustment to a divorced or blended family. Dr. O’Brien employs an integrative paradigm that customizes treatment to the developmental stage of both children and parents. His method combines intensive parental and familial interventions with individual child therapy. Dr. O’Brien has experience in a diverse array of clinical settings, such as psychiatric hospitals, community mental health centers, and medical clinics. Acquiring his PsyD from Nova Southeastern University, he underwent specialized training in applied developmental psychology. He is a frequent guest speaker in the Tampa Bay area and his clinical practice includes a significant amount of pediatric, child psychiatric, and school consultation. Dr. O’Brien has served as a continuing education provider for the Juvenile Welfare Board and is a highly regarded speaker for PESI. Her primary focus is on the training of professionals in the fields of child/adolescent mental health treatment and complex family issue.
